Ground rule: split words into syllables (spoken, not written, hence syllabification, not hyphenation what you would look up in a dictionary, so rather "dan|cing" than "danc|ing" ).
Rule of thumb: generally there's a vowel or diphtong per syllable.
Repeated vowels/diphtongs are indicated by a tilde (~), so that pitch changes for the same vowel can be implemented (e.g. hel|lo|~|~ for three o's). Do not repeat the vowel with the tilde (so no "~o" or "o~" ).
There is no real consensus on where to place the repetition tilde - either directly behind the repeated vowel/diphtong or after the syllable, so "vo|~|we|~l" (repeated o, repeated e, tildes after the repeated vowel) vs. "vow|~|el|~" (same, but tildes after the syllable).
Personally, I prefer the former (tildes after the vowel), because I consider that closer to what actually needs to be sung.
I split up double consonants (as in "hap|pen" rather than "happ|en" or "ha|ppen" or "lit|tle", except for Spanish "ll" maybe where I'd use "ca|lle" and not "cal|le" ).
UltraStar Creator splits lyrics automatically for you (based on editable dictionaries), at least for the most part (slang/colloquial words not included), not sure how Karedi does it.
I think that's just my inexperieince and lack of any real musical background or understanding. Your corrections are very helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to help me improve.
Timing seems pretty good, I just asked because I noticed several unusual/strange syllabifications. I fixed them already, so if you download the txt from here and compare to your local version, you should be able to compare.
I manually edit the lyrics then tap in Karedi and tweak further in Melody Mania's song editor. This is my first track so I'm still trying to get the hang of percieved timing vs matching the actual waveform... I know it probably needs a lot of improvement but I figured something is better than nothing.. Please let me know how to improve.
